Note from the author

Textiles have always been a part of my life from crocheting as a little girl to sewing my own clothes, knitting, and finally weaving and spinning. Our weaving heritage is just as important a part of my life as the article I make on my antique and modern looms. We are a part of history in the making each time we sit at our spinning wheels and looms—especially when we demonstrate to others "how it's done." After learning to weave on a modern floor loom, I came across these narrow bands of tape and became excited about their possibilities. I researched museums and libraries for whatever information could be found. My search at times was disappointing as there is little written knowledge to be found. Thus, the reason for this book: It is the only book exclusively devoted to tape looms and tapes. My own experience for weaving these tapes is included. Re-enactment groups find this activity fits well into the history they portray. I hope you find it as rewarding as I have.

Happy Tape Weaving,
